On the 23rd of June, we are celebrating International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), an international campaign celebrating the achievements of women working across engineering and helping inspire the next generation to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Across Envirogen, the women in our teams contribute to a wide range of roles throughout the business, including project engineering, operations, manufacturing, service, finance, sales, marketing, and leadership positions across our operations in the UK, Europe, and the United States.
To mark this year’s INWED, we’re sharing a short video featuring Ariane Kamkeng, Project Engineer, who talks about her role and experience as a woman in engineering, and her advice to anyone wanting to become an engineer too.
Ariane was named one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering in 2021 by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) and actively participates in STEM outreach programmes designed to inspire the next generation of young women to pursue engineering careers.
As part of her role, Ariane supports engineering design and project delivery activities, including design reviews, risk assessments, and the preparation of engineering documentation such as line lists, valve lists, equipment lists, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and O&M (Operation and Maintenance) manuals.
Engineering plays a vital role in solving real-world challenges across key sectors such as healthcare, industrial manufacturing, municipal infrastructure, and data centres, helping organisations manage water more sustainably and efficiently.
Encouraging greater diversity within engineering remains important not only for the future of the profession but also for bringing different perspectives, experiences, and ideas into the industries we support.
