Maintaining a reliable and sustainable water supply is one of the key challenges for beverage producers, especially when downstream processing takes place at production sites. A bespoke water recycling system, designed and built in the UK, is recycling 65% of process water at one producer’s African site, directly resulting in an innovative new green tea.
Envirogen were asked to provide a total solution, working through each stage of the water treatment system to recognise bottlenecks and design new processes with increased capacity. From incoming water treatment to sterilisation, and even wastewater treatment, Envirogen took a holistic approach, evaluating the needs of the site to develop the best long-term solution.
Williams and Oakey Engineering Co. Ltd is a Precision CNC Machining and Powder Coating company, employing over 60 staff. As with any process line, rinsing is a key factor. Due to the quality of finish required water quality of < 50 μS/cm is needed at two of the rinse stages to ensure the treated products are suitably rinsed and ready for the next stage of production.
The Tulip Food Company production site in Ålborg had a somewhat dated water softening unit. An initial survey revealed both water and salt consumption to be very high compared to the EcoSave units currently being offered.
Following a review of Marston’s existing duplex softening plant and corresponding steel vessels, a series of upgrades were recommended and undertaken. The systems are designed as fully automated duty and standby for 100% duty 24 hours a day.
