Envirogen Enters North American Market Providing "End-to-End" Water Management Solutions for Food & Beverage Processors
The offering will combine proprietary technologies, process expertise and services for incoming water, process water/filtration and wastewater treatment applications.
Envirogen Technologies, Inc. announced that it will begin providing a range of water treatment and management solutions to food and beverage processors in North America. Currently one of Europe’s leading providers of ‘end-to-end’ water solutions to the food and beverage industries, Envirogen will employ a broad-based technology portfolio and operations management expertise to deliver programs for incoming water treatment, process water conditioning, process filtration, water recycle & re-use, and wastewater treatment. The overall mission of Envirogen is to help North American food & beverage processors prepare water from municipal or impacted groundwater sources, enhance facility throughput, and reduce water footprint at the lowest lifecycle cost.
According to Richard Reese, President & CEO, Envirogen has a unique approach to providing water & wastewater treatment solutions to food & beverage companies. “We combine proprietary technologies with sound process engineering, system design and construction, along with operations services to develop comprehensive solutions for our customers. We can support our clients at any point of the project development and implementation process. Our full-service options include guarantees for performance, operating costs and the lifetime of equipment assets. That’s why we call ourselves a Lifecycle Performance company,” he said. “When you invest in new or existing assets for process improvement or environmental performance, you want a least-cost, long-term solution that performs per the design. You want the people you work with to be responsible for what they do,” he added.
Solid expertise in food & beverage processing
In Europe, Envirogen has been providing a broad range of water solutions to food and beverage processors for more than a decade under the Puresep® brand. These include treatment of groundwater and surface water sources via filtration and ion exchange; incoming water treatment solutions via filtration, ion exchange, disinfection and membrane technologies; process water treatment solutions using membranes, de-aeration, disinfection & sterilization; and wastewater treatment solutions that feature recovery and re-use. Global customers of Envirogen’s European operations include: Heineken, Diageo, Britvic, SABMiller, Carlsberg and MolsonCoors. As an example of its leading position, it is estimated that over 85% of cider produced in the United Kingdom today takes advantage of Envirogen’s technologies and expertise.
In the United States, Envirogen has been an industry leader treating and managing impacted groundwater using biological, physical chemical and adsorptive technologies – with over 80 installations country-wide. A key segment of this activity is treating groundwater to drinking water standards – removing contaminants such as nitrate, perchlorate, arsenic, chromium and more. Envirogen’s offering includes expertise in process design & engineering and a proprietary portfolio of treatment technologies. These offers are supported by extensive experience in providing support and in system operation. Full turnkey operations & maintenance options deliver guarantees for performance and the life of installed systems.
Sustainability & reduced water footprint
According to Todd Webster, West Regional Vice President for Envirogen, the company’s offering to food and beverage processors is particularly timely considering the overall industry drive for reduced water footprint and the extreme drought conditions being experienced in California and the U.S. Southwest. “At Envirogen, we have the ability to help companies utilize alternative source water and to make their existing water sources work harder – and with better quality. Within the processing facility, there are a number of opportunities to reduce overall water usage, to make more efficient usage of expensive water sources, as well as investigate water re-use approaches,” he said. “We have done this for companies worldwide, and we’re ready to implement tailored solutions to meet new and emergency water requirements in the United States right away,” he added.
